About Lynn Heritage State Park

1986 marked the opening of this history-themed park, created as part of the Metropolitan Park System of Greater Boston. The Lynn Museum and Historical Society presents exhibits on the city's industrial heritage, tracing shoemaking's shift from handwork to machine production and telling the story of Elihu Thomson, whose engineering work helped establish General Electric. Visitors can take a guided tour or follow a self-guided walking route, and the park connects to the nearby 4.5-acre Waterfront Park on Lynn Harbor.
