About Mitchell State Park

660 acres of land sit between Lake Mitchell and Lake Cadillac, joined by the Clam Lake Canal, a waterway about a third of a mile long that runs directly through the park. The canal was dug in 1873 under the direction of city founder George A. Mitchell, originally built to float logs from Lake Mitchell to the lumber mills on Lake Cadillac. Both lakes border the park's grounds, giving the site water access on two sides.
