About Sakatah Lake State Park
The Cannon River widens naturally here, forming the lake that gives this 842-acre park its name. The Dakota word "Sakatah" means "singing hills," a heritage reflected in the Dakota names given to some of the park's trails. The Sakatah Singing Hills State Trail, which links Faribault and Mankato, passes directly through the park, connecting it to a longer regional route.
