About St. Croix State Park

Depression-era work crews from the Civilian Conservation Corps and the Works Progress Administration built the property as a Recreational Demonstration Area in the 1930s, leaving 164 surviving structures, the largest collection of New Deal-era work in Minnesota. That collection was listed on the National Register of Historic Places and named a National Historic Landmark in 1997. The park stretches along 21 miles of the St. Croix River and includes the final 7 miles of the Kettle River, covering 33,895 acres, the largest total of any Minnesota state park.
