About Cherry Springs State Park

Dark night skies draw stargazers to this 82-acre tract carved out of the Susquehannock State Forest, sitting atop the dissected Allegheny Plateau at 2,300 feet in elevation. The park takes its name from a stand of Black Cherry trees that once grew on the site. The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources has recognized it among the state's notable parks for stargazing conditions described as among the darkest on the East Coast.
