About Beavertail State Park

Conanicut Island's southern tip, jutting into Narragansett Bay, forms the 153 acre grounds of this park. The active Beavertail Lighthouse, its present tower built in 1856, stands as the main feature along the rocky shoreline. During World War II the area served as part of Fort Burnside, a coastal defense installation guarding the bay. Visitors can hike the shore, picnic, and fish in the surrounding saltwater.
