About Goddard Memorial State Park

A nine-hole golf course and 18 miles of bridle trails sit within grounds that once formed the estate of Robert Goddard, a Civil War officer and Rhode Island politician. His children donated the land to the state in 1927 as a memorial to him. The 490-acre property stretches along Greenwich Cove and Greenwich Bay and also holds a swimming beach, a canoeing area, picnic grounds, game fields, and a performing arts center.
