About Cumberland Mountain State Park

Byrd Creek was dammed in the 1930s to form Byrd Lake, and the resulting 1,720 acres now make up the park's grounds. The surrounding terrain sits within the Cumberland Plateau, giving the park a landscape shaped by that region's environment. Visitors can access an 18-hole course, Bear Trace, along with other recreational activities built around the lake itself.
