About Harrison Bay State Park

Built by the Tennessee Valley Authority in the 1930s as a demonstration park, this 1,200-acre property opened in 1937 along the shores of Chickamauga Lake. Its name comes from the town of Harrison, Tennessee, which now lies partially submerged beneath the lake's waters. Construction happened alongside that of Booker T. Washington State Park, part of the same era of TVA development along the Tennessee River system.
