About Caledon State Park

Old growth forest along the Potomac River shoreline covers much of this 2,587-acre property. The land traces back to 1659, when it was established as Caledon Plantation under the Alexander brothers, who went on to found the city of Alexandria. It passed into state ownership in 1974. In 2010 the park recorded 49,328 visitors for the year.
