About Widewater State Park

A peninsula of about 1,100 acres extends into the Potomac River, forming the core of this park. The land lies along the Captain John Smith Chesapeake National Historic Trail, connecting it to other wildlife refuges and regional parks in the same network. Facilities include a visitor center and staff building on Aquia Creek, four picnic shelters, children's play areas, kayak launches on both sides of the peninsula, a soft boat launch, and campgrounds.
