About Sacajawea State Park

A stretch of shoreline where the Snake and Columbia rivers meet marks the ground this preserve occupies, spread across 267 acres. Lewis and Clark's expedition set up camp on this exact spot on October 16, 1805, and the grounds now carry the name of Sacagawea, the Shoshone woman who traveled with the party alongside her husband, French-Canadian interpreter Toussaint Charbonneau. An interpretive center on site presents exhibits covering her role and the expedition's journey.
