About Jacksonport State Park

164.7 acres of land at the confluence of the White River and Black River make up this park, which grew from a 19th-century steamboat stop and trading hub. It preserves the 1872 Jacksonport courthouse, seat of county government from 1872 to 1892 before the town was bypassed by the Iron Mountain and Southern Railroad. The courthouse is furnished with items of regional historical significance and is open for tours.
