Timber and farming once shaped this stretch of land along the St. Croix River before it was set aside as parkland in 1947. The 1,520-acre park covers rolling glacial moraine, riparian zones along the river, restored oak savanna, wooded areas and bogs, with hiking trails running through this mix of terrain. It draws visitors for birdwatching, picnics, camping, cross-country skiing, canoeing and fishing.
