About Willow River State Park

A 200-foot gorge cut into the landscape carries Willow Falls, the cascade at the center of this 2,891-acre park. Little Falls Lake, formed as a shallow reservoir on the Willow River, offers another focal point within the grounds. The rock layers exposed in the lower gorge contain trilobite fossils estimated at 600 million years old. Its location near the Minneapolis-St. Paul area makes it one of the more heavily visited state parks in Wisconsin.
