About Tu-Endie-Wei State Park

Standing at the point where the Kanawha River meets the Ohio, this small tract of ground marks the site of the Battle of Point Pleasant, fought on October 10, 1774 between Virginia militia and Shawnee forces led by Chief Cornstalk. That fight broke the militia's opponents' alliance with the British and let settlers from western Virginia head east across the Alleghenies to take part in the Revolutionary War.
