About Mill Bluff State Park

Twelve thousand years ago, the sandstone formations here stood as sea stacks rising from the waters of Glacial Lake Wisconsin. The park now protects these steep, angular bluffs, which reach heights between 80 and 200 feet and look distinct from the smoother terrain common across the eastern United States. Part of the Ice Age National Scientific Reserve, the site once guided pioneers on their way west and still stands near the modern route of Interstate 90/94.
