Sandstone outcrops carved by erosion into walls and ledges were the reason this 244-acre tract gained protection in 1932. The park preserves this rock formation within the Wisconsin Dells region, where the eroded surfaces have taken on the shapes that led to its founding. Its acreage sits a couple of miles from Wisconsin Dells, giving visitors a compact area to view the sandstone ledges directly.
