About Barr Lake State Park

Over 350 bird species have been recorded at this 2,715-acre park built around Barr Lake, where a resident pair of bald eagles nests each year alongside many others that winter here. Twelve miles of trails wind through the property, including an 8.8-mile loop circling the lake itself. Boating and fishing are permitted on the lake's northern half, while the southern half is set aside as a wildlife refuge with viewing stations and a nature center.
